Number of Chornobyl exclusion zone visitors growing

The popularity of excursions to the Chornobyl exclusion zone has grown significantly in recent years.
Radio Svoboda reported this with reference to Ecology and Natural Resources Minister of Ukraine Ostap Semerak.
"According to the ministry, this year more than 63,000 people visited the exclusion zone. In 2017, this figure was more than 49,000, in 2016 - more than 36,000," reads the report.
Semerak also noted that about 8,000 people visited the exclusion zone in 2014.
As reported, the State Specialized Enterprise Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant launched the program of study tours to the exclusion zone. To visit the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, tourists must fill out an online application on the ChNPP’s website.
