Most Ukrainians ready for more expensive natural gas - poll

Some 52.9% of Ukrainians believe that Ukraine should not fall into energy dependence from Russia even for the sake of a reduction in natural gas prices for households, according to a survey conducted by the Socis Center from December 8 to December 18, 2018.

At the same time, according to the poll, 23.4% of respondents believe that in order to get a reduction in gas prices for the population, "it is possible to sign a gas agreement with Russia," and 23.7% refused to answer.

Some 44.7% of those polled think that Ukraine should choose its own path of development, relying on its own resources, 42.8% want Ukraine to move more resolutely towards Europe and the West, only 8% believe that Ukraine needs to move more resolutely towards Russia and the East, and 4.6% refused to answer.

The survey was conducted according to a sample representing the adult population of Ukraine as a whole, based on gender, age (over 18 years), and division into regions and type of settlement (town/village). A total of 2,000 respondents were interviewed.
