Nigerian pirates take hostage Ukrainian sailors

Nigerian pirates attacked a ship with Ukrainians on board and took them hostage.

"On March 30, 2019, a group of armed Nigerian pirates boarded the cargo container ship CONTSHIP OAK (IMO 9373917, LBR), Douala outer anchorage (Cameroon, Bight of Bonny, Gulf of Guinea), took all valuable things and four crew members with them in an unknown direction. According to information received by the Maritime Information Center from relatives of one of the sailors, there are Ukrainians among the hostages," the Maritime Information Center reports on Facebook.

The information about the incident was immediately reported to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the consul of Ukraine in Nigeria. The family was offered the assistance of specialists and provided all possible support. As of April 2, 2019, the vessel was moored in the port of Douala.

The ship built in 2007 is owned by a Greek company.
