Ukraine ready to join WHO international clinical trials
"Ukraine is interested in joining the Solidarity international clinical trial to find a treatment for COVID-19. We are ready to explore the technical and technological opportunities for joining the trials and have already identified the Ministry's coordinators for this project. We are also interested in other areas of interaction, including the increase in the number of carried out COVID-19 detection tests,” Health Minister of Ukraine Maksym Stepanov said at the meeting with Dr. Jarno Habicht, WHO Representative to Ukraine, the Government portal informs.
Dr. Jarno Habicht noted that the international community was fully committed to assisting Ukraine and WHO was ready to implement the abovementioned initiatives in the shortest possible time.
According to Stepanov, Ukraine and WHO have many areas of cooperation amid the coronavirus pandemic: from providing humanitarian assistance to expert consultations, conducting TV linkups and sharing treatment algorithms.
“It is important to develop cooperation in order to defeat coronavirus by joint efforts. And when the pandemic is over, we can work together to improve the Ukrainian healthcare system,” the health minister added.
As of 09:00 on April 11, Ukraine had 2,511 laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 cases, including 73 lethal cases.
