Kyiv city and region create working group to prevent and eliminate consequences of fires

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said this at a briefing on April 24, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"In the last two weeks alone, about 600 wildfires occurred in Kyiv and its region. Also, major fires occurred in Zhytomyr region and the Chornobyl zone last week. You remember how Kyiv was choking when the forests were burning, and today the air is not perfect. Therefore, together with experts from the region, we plan to jointly prevent and overcome the consequences of fires," Klitschko said.

According to him, the group will focus on increasing responsibility for burning garbage and grass, preventing fires, introducing a stationary air monitoring system in Kyiv and its region, as well as the interaction of city and regional services in the preparation of special equipment and supplies for overcoming fires.
