Klitschko says Kyiv beaches open, but not for swimming

Kyiv city’s beaches are open, but the water is not open for swimming, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

"Swimming at Kyiv public beaches is banned until the city receives permission from the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection," Klitschko said at a briefing on June 15, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

He noted that people should also follow safety rules at the beach. According to him, people at higher risk from coronavirus are not recommended to visit the beach. Others must keep their distance and regularly use hand sanitizers.

Klitschko added that the city organizes disinfection of public beaches twice a day.

As reported, as of June 15, Kyiv city’s cases of COVID-19 grew to 3,957. Some 53 new cases were confirmed over the past day.
