On July 21, Ukrainian Red Cross Society delivered the first batch of additional humanitarian aid to flood victims in western regions.

“Ukrainian Red Cross Society quickly responded to the government's appeal for additional humanitarian aid to the western regions affected by the floods. It will complement the assistance that the government previously allocated from the state budget’s reserve fund in the amount of more than UAH 700 million. We are grateful to international partners who promptly carried out the appropriate procedures and purchases in order to provide assistance to citizens in dire need as soon as possible," Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna said.

The aid delivery took place within the framework of cooperation of the Ukrainian government with Ukrainian Red Cross Society in coordination and with the support of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, the Danish Red Cross and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

During the week, Red Cross volunteers will deliver 3,750 hygiene kits to residents of the Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia and Chernivtsi regions.

As reported, heavy rains between June 22-24 caused floods in the Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Lviv, and Ternopil regions. Three people were killed in floods and one more went missing. Hundreds of kilometers of roads, dozens of bridges were destroyed, and hundreds of people were resettled.
