Health Ministry initiates development of network of virology laboratories

He said this in his report in the parliament on the government's implementation of the Verkhovna Rada’s resolution on the measures to combat the spread of COVID-19, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The Ministry of Health has developed a draft document approving the state target program for the development of a network of virology laboratories. The work on it is being completed and I’m sure that with the appointment of new minister [Viktor Liashko] this process will accelerate,” said Shmyhal.

According to the prime minister, the strategy envisages the creation of biosafety centers, strengthening the capacity of regional laboratories, and creating the necessary stock of medicines.

"Additional expenditures for the development of a network of epidemiological control and biological safety facilities for 2022-2024 will amount to more than UAH 4 billion," Shmyhal said.
