Russia persecuting 93 Crimean Tatars for political reasons
"Today, Muslims celebrate Eid al-Adha! A holiday of faith and mercy, spiritual perfection, generosity, help to the needy, love for neighbor. Unfortunately, not everyone celebrates it in the family circle and on Ukrainian soil," Denisova posted on Telegram.
She noted that thousands of Crimean Tatars had been forced to leave the peninsula due to the actions by the occupying power.
"Russian Federation persecutes 93 Crimean Tatars for political reasons. Of these, 78 serve illegal sentences in the territory of the occupying country: 36 of them are already convicted, 42 are under investigation," the Commissioner noted.
As Denisova stressed, the Crimean Tatars are extremely steadfast and strong-willed people who are fighting for the right to be free and live in their homeland.
She also wished them strong faith, unshakable hope, and boundless support from their relatives.
"May the holiday of Eid al-Adha be happy, blessed, and joyful for all Muslims," Denisova wrote.
