Over 40,000 tourists from Gulf countries have visited Ukraine this summer
"According to our estimates, more than 40,000 tourists from the Gulf countries have visited Kyiv, Odesa, Lviv, and Bukovel this summer. Now we are working to get them back to us next year and bring new tourists along," Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba said at an online briefing on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
Last year, Ukraine unilaterally abolished visa requirements for tourists from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait, while Ukrainian diplomats made efforts to launch direct flights and low-cost flights from these countries.
"Our strategy succeeded under the conditions of the pandemic. This year, they came to us as many European countries are still closed to tourists from this region. This is a very serious contribution to the development of the tourism industry and the economy of Ukraine," said the minister.
Kuleba also informed that the Arabic language version of Ukraine’s official website – Ukraine.ua – will be launched soon, while a special page for tourists in Arabic will be available today.
