Almost 140,000 couples get married in Ukraine this year

Almost 140,000 couples got married in Ukraine in January-August 2021, the Ministry of Justice wrote on its Facebook page.
“Over the eight months of 2021, Ukraine’s state civil registry offices registered almost 140,000 marriages. This is 35% more than last year," reads the report.
The largest number of registered marriages was recorded in the city of Kyiv (11,728 in 2020, 16,591 in 2021), Dnipropetrovsk region (8,593 in 2020, 12,106 in 2021), Odesa region (7,237 in 2020, 10,029 in 2021), Kharkiv region (7,242 in 2020, 9,979 in 2021), and Lviv region (7,431 in 2020, 9,452 in 2021).
As previously reported, Ukrainians will be able to apply for marriage registration through the public service portal Diia as early as this autumn.
