Tkachenko: Authorities will continue dialogue with representatives of creative industries
"We need to move from concepts to tools for implementing and helping the creative industry. The state policy requires clear tools that will need to be implemented. Last year, we discussed creating an ecosystem for creative entrepreneurs. What have we done over the past year? We have introduced reduced VAT rates – 7% instead of 20% for theater performances, for some film screenings," Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko said at the 5th annual international forum "Creative Ukraine", an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
According to him, the state program for fine arts development was also approved.
"As for book publishing, we developed a strategy and passed a law on libraries. A 2.0 strategy for the film industry was also adopted. An action plan with clear KPIs was drafted. The goal is to attract $5 million in investments by 2025," the minister noted.
Tkachenko added that there was a need to achieve access both to state and also private funding. "We need to teach entrepreneurship, create infrastructure so that innovation can be implemented by creative talent, promote the creative economy, art, concerts, book publishing, and film industry. The launch of creative hubs has already begun. We think that these hubs will help unite creative activity in some places. People will have access to equipment, training, and other programs. We believe in public-private partnership. We are currently drafting bills that will allow the use of public-private partnership in pilot projects," the minister said.
