U.S. Department of State commemorates Babyn Yar tragedy victims
“As we mark the 80th anniversary of the massacre at Babyn Yar in Ukraine, we must redouble our efforts to counter the kind of hatred that led to the Holocaust. As reported, memorial events with the participation of senior officials and church leaders are being held in Babyn Yar in Kyiv on September 29-30. They honor the memory of the victims of mass shootings of civilians, mostly Jews. On September 29 and 30, 1941, the Nazis massacred more than 33,000 people. In total, according to official data, about 100,000 people were shot down in Babyn Yar.
