Mejlis official Dzhelyalov's arrest to be appealed in occupied Crimea on Oct 1
Dzhelyalov’s lawyer, Nikolay Polozov, has made a relevant announcement on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
The hearing will take place on Friday, October 1, at 12:00, the lawyer said.
According to the lawyer, Nariman Dzhelyalov will take part in the hearing via video link from a pre-trial detention center.
It should be recalled that charges against Nariman Dzhelyalov, illegally detained in the temporarily occupied Crimea, were reclassified from "aiding and abetting sabotage" to "committing sabotage" over a gas pipeline incident in the village of Perevalne.
On September 3-4, Russian security forces executed illegal searches in the temporarily occupied peninsula, targeting homes of Crimean Tatars, before detaining Nariman Dzhelyalov, First Deputy Chairman of the Crimean Tatars’ Mejlis, as well as activists Eldar Odamanov, Aziz and Asan Akhtemovs, and Shevket Useinov.
Russia-controlled "court" in a Simferopol district on September 6 ruled to remand Dzhelyalov and the Akhtemov brothers in custody until November 4. Adamanov and Useinov were subjected to 14 and 15 days of "administrative arrest."
On September 10, the Verkhovna Rada issued a statement calling on the international community to condemn yet another wave of repression targeting Crimean Tatars in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
