Kyiv to get into "red" zone of COVID-19 restrictions - Klitschko
That’s according to Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko who spoke at a meeting of the Kyiv City Council on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"Kyiv will be put into the red quarantine zone in the coming days. That’s because the situation with the virus spread is, unfortunately, deteriorating in our city. In the past 24 hours alone, more than a thousand patients and 39 deaths have been registered in Kyiv,” Klitschko said.
According to the mayor, the Kyiv Emergency Situations Commission will meet on Friday. "The Commission will decide on the introduction of additional restrictions and the functioning of the capital in the red zone, to which we will be assigned in the coming days," he said.
Klitschko noted a high load at the capital's hospitals. More than 50% of the beds prepared for the treatment of coronavirus patients are already occupied, while those with oxygen supply are occupied by over 63%.
Klitschko also instructed the Kyiv City State Administration's Health Department to intensify a campaign to vaccinate Kyiv residents.
In the past 24 hours, 1,192 confirmed coronavirus cases were confirmed.
Across Ukraine, new daily cases stood at 22,415.
