Shmyhal meets with newly appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Ukraine

Denys Shmyhal congratulated Visvaldas Kulbokas on his appointment, Ukrinform reports, referring to the Government portal.

"I hope that your appointment will strengthen our cultural cooperation and give more understanding about Ukraine and Ukrainians, about aggression by the Russian Federation and the problems caused by the occupation of Ukrainian territories. It is important for us to show Ukraine and demonstrate that we are open to cooperation in various areas," Shmyhal said.

The Prime Minister noted that this year he had had a very constructive and warm meeting with His Holiness Pope Francis, with whom he had discussed practical issues. Shmyhal said he hopes that cooperation between Ukraine and the Holy See will further develop.

As Ukrinform reported, on June 15, 2021, Archbishop Visvaldas Kulbokas, a former adviser to the Nunciature, was appointed new Apostolic Nuncio in Ukraine.
