Liashko: Number of new COVID-19 cases declined by 6% over past week
Health Minister Viktor Liashko said this at a briefing, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
According to the health minister, some European countries also record a gradual decline in the number of new COVID-19 cases and stabilization of the situation, including Estonia, Romania, Latvia and Sweden.
"In Ukraine, there has been a 6% decrease in the number of coronavirus cases last week compared to the previous one. Over the past week, the number of hospitalizations to Covid hospitals has also decreased by 13%. For the first time in the last three months, the average daily number of discharges from Covid hospitals has exceeded the number of hospitalizations. On average, 7% fewer patients are hospitalized than discharged,” Liashko said.
At the same time, according to him, the number of active COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations is still quite high. Therefore, the issue of vaccination remains relevant.
According to data provided by the Health Ministry, 600,000 people have been vaccinated last week. A total of 39.4% of Ukrainians have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, 28% of Ukrainians have received two doses. The leaders in the number of those vaccinated with at least one dose is Kyiv city (61%), Kyiv region (almost 50%) and Poltava region (46%).
As Ukrinform reported, 3,228,441 people in Ukraine have contracted coronavirus, 2,642,459 have recovered, and 77,147 have died since the pandemic began.
On November 14, Ukraine recorded 10,802 new COVID-19 cases.
