Ukrainian Health Ministry extends contract with Pfizer - Liashko
According to Ukrinform, Minister of Health Viktor Liashko said this at a briefing on Tuesday, November 23.
"During this time, Ukraine will receive 25 million doses of the vaccine annually. The vaccine will be used for additional vaccinations if the National Technical Group of Experts on Immunoprophylaxis makes respective recommendations. Everyone deserves to be protected from COVID-19. Use your right to get vaccinated as soon as possible," Liashko said.
He also noted that four vaccines are currently used in Ukraine: AstraZeneca, CoronaVac from Sinovac Biotech, Comirnaty from Pfizer-BioNTech, and Moderna.
According to him, the state provided free access to vaccines and allowed the selection and combination of certain immunobiological drugs.
"According to the recommendations of the National Technical Group of Experts on Immunoprophylaxis, we allowed mixing mRNA vaccines – i.e. the first jab with Moderna and the second with Pfizer or vice versa. If the first dose is AstraZeneca, then for the second dose you can use an mRNA vaccine, i.e. Moderna or Pfizer. Mixing other types of vaccines is not envisaged at the moment. That is, after CoronaVac, it is not recommended to use Moderna or Pfizer," he said.
Liashko noted that those who received two doses of different vaccines, according to the mixed scheme, are considered fully immunized and can receive a certificate of vaccination.
Some 12,729 new coronavirus cases were recorded in Ukraine on November 22.
