One-third of Ukrainians believe next year will be worse than this year

At the same time, 31% of respondents believe that next year will be better than this year. Another third thinks that nothing will change.

According to sociologists, last year's expectations were more optimistic as 52% of those polled expected the year 2021 to be better than the year 2020. In general, younger respondents (under 40) expect next year to be better than this year, while older ones think that nothing will change or get worse.

According to the poll, 67% of Ukrainians believe that the country is moving in the wrong direction, and 24% think it is moving in the right direction. Some 9% were undecided.

Ukrainians said the most important problems in their country were corruption (55%) and the war in the east of Ukraine (51%), as well as the economic crisis (32%), incompetence of the authorities (31%), the coronavirus epidemic (27%), and the influence of oligarchs on politics (24%) and poor quality medicine (24%).

The survey was conducted on December 14-16, 2021 among 2,000 respondents aged 18 and older in all regions, except for the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. The poll's margin of error does not exceed 2.2%.
