Home Games by Alisa Kovalenko released on Netflix

On December 23, Home Games movie by Ukrainian director Alisa Kovalenko was released on Netflix.

“We're on Netflix now! Happy news for Christmas and the New Year! A first time for Ukrainian creative documentary!” Kovalenko posted on Facebook.

Home Games tells the story of 20-year-old Alina Shylova from Kyiv, who gets a chance to break out of poverty thanks to football. She has to start playing for Ukraine national team but life challenges her: her mother dies, leaving two children. The film was made with the support of the Ukrainian State Film Agency.

In 2019, Home Games, co-produced by Ukraine, France, and Poland, received a cash prize at the goEast, Festival of Central and Eastern European Film, in Wiesbaden, Germany. The film was awarded a EUR 4,500 prize from the German Federal Foreign Office.
