The Cabinet of Ministers no longer plans to introduce total lockdowns in Ukraine due to the launch of the COVID-19 vaccination program, according to Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
He stated this during this year's last government meeting on Wednesday, December 29, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"Thanks to the launch of free and affordable vaccination, we no longer plan to introduce total lockdowns. Businesses can operate even in the red zone if all employees are vaccinated," Shmyhal said.
Two regions – the Volyn and Zaporizhia regions - remained in the red zone of COVID-19 restrictions as of December 29. At the same time, according to the State Commission for Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergency Situations, these regions will move to a yellow level of epidemiological danger from December 30.
