As part of the advocacy campaign of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Deputy Marshal of the Sejm of Poland Małgorzata Gosiewska became a mentor for Marlen Asanov, a Crimean citizen journalist illegally convicted by the Russian-occupation authorities.

“I am sincerely grateful to Deputy Marshal of the Sejm of Poland Małgorzata Gosiewska for joining Ukraine MFA’s public advocacy mentorship initiative for citizen journalists, illegally detained by Russian occupants in Crimea, and her readiness to become a mentor for Marlen Asanov, sentenced to 19 years,” First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Emine Dzheppar posted on Twitter.

Since September 2020, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has been implementing the initiative of advocacy mentorship by public foreigners for citizen journalists who were illegally imprisoned and are currently held behind bars in Russia. In particular, American philosopher Francis Fukuyama joined the mentorship initiative.
