Ukraine gets 1M Pfizer doses from US, expecting Sinovac batch from China
“The United States government provided nearly a million more doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to Ukraine. This delivery by UNICEF through COVAX is part of a global effort and will help ensure Ukrainians have critical protection from the disease, especially with the spread of Omicron variant,” the U.S. Embassy posted on Twitter.
Moreover, Ukraine will get additional 200,000 doses of the Sinovac Biotech vaccine as humanitarian aid from the Government of the People's Republic of China.
The relevant letter of commitment was endorsed by the order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine at the Government meeting on Wednesday.
Currently, the explanatory note reads, Ukraine needs 47,283,416 doses of COVID-19 vaccines to cover 70% of the adult population (23.77 million people) by the end of 2022.
