In the Heart of Ukraine: Ukrinform launching weekly recap of major news
"Against the background of the acute problem of mass disinformation, manipulation, or misconceptions about Ukraine that exist in the international information space, the agency seeks to offer a clear, understandable, and true vision of what is happening in and around Ukraine. We will help those who took interest in our country to see it not through someone else's optics, but as it is: without wrong connotations imposed by outsiders," said Ukrinform Director Oleksandr Kharchenko.
In turn, the blog’s host, our agency’s journalist and editor Yevhen Matiushenko, believes that the weekly video news digest for English-speaking audiences is what the Ukrainian media market lacks at the moment.
“In fact, it seems to me plenty of media outlets write about Ukraine, especially in such a difficult period for the country amid modern security challenges, many foreign journalists come here, trying to figure out ‘on the fly’ what’s going on here, but sometimes what a regular American, Brit, or any EU country resident needs is a for someone to go out there and simply tell them what’s happening in Ukraine. Like, who’s the bad guy and who’s the good one. Unfortunately, there’s so much confusion out there,” our journalist said, sharing his thoughts.
The blog, entitled "In the Heart of Ukraine," will be available on Ukrinform’s website and across the national agency's social networks.
