Number of COVID-19 patients in hospitals exceeds 27,200 – Liashko
Ukrainian Health Minister Viktor Liashko said this at a briefing on February 7, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“To date, 71,630 Covid beds have been allocated, of which 96.3% of Covid beds are supplied with oxygen. There are currently 27,217 COVID-19 patients in healthcare facilities, which is 3,000 more than at the beginning of the previous week,” Liashko said.
At the same time, thanks to vaccination, with 40,000 cases per day, number of new hospitalizations does not exceed 4,000. That is, only every tenth person ill with COVID-19 is hospitalized. "During the autumn wave, we hospitalized each fourth one," Liashko said.
In addition, the occupancy rate of beds with oxygen is 40.9%. Patients with prescribed oxygen therapy occupy only a third of all available oxygen beds in the country. Two of the three intensive care beds remain available, Liashko added.
As Ukrinform reported, Ukraine recorded 23,378 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on February 6.
