Erdogan to call Zelensky, Putin May 30

Ukrinform
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced phone calls with Ukrainian and Russian Presidents, Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin, scheduled for Monday, May 30.

That’s according to the Communications Directorate of Turkey’s Presidential Administration, Ukrinform reports.

"We believe that the war between Russia and Ukraine will end in peace as soon as possible, but it seems that the situation is getting worse every day. On Monday, I will have phone calls with both Russia and Ukraine," Erdogan said.

According to him, Turkey will continue to "encourage the parties to be guided by channels of dialogue and diplomacy."

As Ukrinform reported, in early May, Zelensky said that the first step toward resuming talks with Russia would be for Russia to withdraw their troops to the positions as of February 24, 2022, the day the full-blown invasion started.

A few days ago, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that, despite public statements by Russian leadership, nothing signaled Russia's readiness for negotiations; the facts show that the Russian president is determined to further wage war.
