Zelensky's vyshyvanka auctioned off for $100,000 at United24 presentation in U.S.
That's according to the Voice of America, Ukrinform reports.
The buyer of the presidential embroidered shirt is the law firm Asters USA. The auction took place as part of the presentation of the United24 program at the Ukrainian House in Washington.
"The United States is the first country to make an official presentation of the United 24 platform. It is symbolic that this presentation is taking place on the 100th day of the Russian war against Ukraine," said Ukraine's Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova.
According to her, Ukraine House was a partner of this initiative in the United States.
"The funds for United 24 are sent through a special account of Ukraine House. People who make donations will receive all benefits in the U.S. tax sphere, in accordance with local law," the ambassador said.
The report said that the T-shirts signed by Ukrainian footballers Artem Dovbyk and Andriy Yarmolenko, in which they played during Ukraine's winning match against Scotland on June 1, had also been sold at the charity auction. A well-known ceramic jug in the shape of a rooster, similar to the one that preserved intact on a kitchen shelf of a badly bombed building in Borodianka, Kyiv region, was auctioned off.
On May 17, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on the initiative to establish the national brand United24 in a bid to unite the efforts of international partners in support of Ukraine.
As part of United24, a "single window" has been introduced for donations from charities, international partners and citizens to support Ukraine in the following areas: assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, humanitarian, medical and children's assistance, rebuilding infrastructure, digital and information opposition to Russia's armed aggression.
