Russian propaganda manipulates Western media reports to assure Russian speakers of “success” in Ukraine
This was reported on Telegram by the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, according to Ukrinform.
Allegedly quoting The Washington Post, Russian media claim that "the euphoria about the success of the Armed Forces of Ukraine after Russia liberated key settlements in Donbas is weakening among Western experts.” The original article, however, says that Russia is adapting its tactics in Donbas due to the lack of human resources, reads the post.
The Center for Countering Disinformation also denied manipulation spread by the Russian media, which, citing material by The Economist, claim that Western experts admit that Russia has increased oil exports despite sanctions imposed.
"Indeed, economists point out that Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia have increased their purchases of Russian oil. At the same time, the same experts say that Russia is forced to sell the surplus at huge discounts," the CCD said.
The Center for Countering Disinformation noted that the use of certain theses taken from Western media reports creates a false impression among the Russian-speaking population about Russia's success on the economic and military fronts.
