Ukrainian Shchedryk to be performed at Carnegie Hall
The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine released the announcement on Telegram.
Today marks the 100th anniversary of the Ukrainian Republic Capella concert conducted by Oleksandr Kohyts in New York.
This year, the choirs from Ukraine and North America, including the Ukrainian Chorus Dumka, the Children's Choir Shchedryk, and the Choir of Trinity Wall Street, will participate in the Notes from Ukraine concert.
Opera singer Janai Brugger and Ukrainian folk singer Marichka Marczyk will be special guests. In addition, a world premiere by composer Trevor Weston, setting the words of Ukrainian poet Serhiy Zhadan, will be presented.
American film director Martin Scorsese and American actress of Ukrainian origin Vera Farmiga will host the concert.
Vimeo will live stream the concert at 21:00 Kyiv time, 02:00 New York time.
The concert is organized by the Ukrainian Institute, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Razom for Ukraine, and the Ukrainian Contemporary Music Festival with the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in the USA, the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the United Nations, and the Consulate General of Ukraine in New York.
Part of the funds raised through ticket sales will be transferred to the United24 initiative of the President of Ukraine for Ukraine’s restoration.
