Kherson residents asked to return firearms issued amid formation of territorial defense units
That’s according to Yaroslav Yanushevych, head of the Regional Military Administration, Ukrinform reports.
"Important message from the command of military unit A7053! The military asks residents of Kherson to voluntarily turn in the weapons received during the formation of the Kherson Territorial Defense Brigade," the statement reads.
It is noted that in order to inform the authorities about the locations where weapons and ammunition are stored, residents are requested to report to the local draft office.
It is advised that residents not bring weapons in person.
Voluntary return of earlier issued weapons entails no criminal liability, the official notes, adding that all rights and freedoms of citizens will be protected.
As reported, the Ukrainian Defense Forces liberated Kherson on November 11. The city had been temporarily occupied since March.
