Efforts to mothball the building of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, which was seriously damaged by two Russian missiles on March 1, have been completed.

The further fate of the building is yet to be decided, says Oleh Syniehubov, the administration chief, who commented on the news for Ukrinform.

"Currently, we can talk about saving what can be saved. Therefore, we have taken a number of mothballing measures to prevent further destruction, given possible precipitation and the fact that the roof and windows are gone. Next, we will make an assessment and develop a project. Our main goal is to preserve the historical value of this building, the facade, and, at the same time, we clearly understand that inside we will have to erect a completely new building using modern technology because the structure was very badly damaged, so we’ll have to make a brand new monolithic part inside," said the official.

As reported, on March 1, the Regional State Administration on Sumska Street in Kharkiv was hit by two Russian missiles. At the time of the blasts, representatives of territorial defense, military personnel, and volunteers were in the building.

On April 1, the head of the administration announced that the death toll stood at 29.

In June, the administration chief told reporters that, according to experts' conclusions, the building cannot be restored.

The building is an architectural monument, which housed structural units of the regional council, the regional state administration, and some departments of the Kharkiv City Council.
