Majority of Poles see war in Ukraine as threat to their country

More than three-quarters of Polish residents believe that Russia's war on Ukraine threatens the security of their country.

That’s according to the latest survey run by the Center for Public Opinion Research (CBOS), Ukrinform reports with reference to Radio Poland

In December, the number of Poles who consider Russia’s war against Ukraine a threat to their country increased by 3% against November – to 78%. At the same time, according to 18% of respondents, Poland is not threatened by the ongoing war.

Meanwhile, 43% of respondents are convinced that the war will not spread to other countries. Some 29% of respondents share a different opinion on the matter.

According to 73% of those polled, Poland can count on NATO allies to protect its borders, while 20% harbor no such confidence.

Almost half of Poles (49%) consider NATO's actions in relation to Ukraine appropriate in the context of Russian aggression. Instead, 36% called them too cautious, and only 4% – excessive.

The vast majority of respondents (79%) believe that Poland should accept refugees from Ukraine, with only 15% opposing the move.

At the same time, 52% of those interviewed said they or their relatives provide some sort of assistance to Ukraine. In the opinion of 64%, Polish aid to Ukraine is sufficient, 29% believe Poland is helping too much, and 3% – too little.

The survey was conducted from November 28 to December 11, covering 1,018 adult respondents across Poland.
