Civilians killed in Bucha commemorated in Washington, D.C.
The event was held by the charitable organization US Ukrainian Activists (USUA), an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
"Bucha is one of the most affected Ukrainian cities, it became the epitome of Russian crimes of an unprecedented scale. After the town was liberated, when Ukrainian defenders discovered many tortured bodies of civilians, the whole world saw what the Russian Federation leaves behind," said Nadia Shaporynska, USUA president and organizer of the event.
She emphasized that the Bucha massacre was, in fact, one of the first examples of war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by Russian troops.
"The whole world is horrified by the atrocities of the Russian occupiers in Bucha, Irpin, Mariupol, Izium, Kherson, Borodianka, and other Ukrainian cities," Shaporynska emphasized.
The rally participants called on the U.S. administration to recognize Russia as a terrorist state and to support the creation of a Special Tribunal for Russia to hold all perpetrators to account and establish justice.
They prayed and honored the memory of all the victims of the genocide that Russia continues to commit against the people of Ukraine.
