Minister of Interior set to tackle corruption in driving tests

This was announced by Minister Ihor Klymenko, who spoke in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

"I have some comments about the services provided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. First of all, this concerns those rendered by the Main Service Center divisions. Today, an issue that concerns almost every citizen of Ukraine is acute. I’m talking about transparency of theoretical and practical driver exams. We seek to minimize facts where driver licenses are obtained with no appropriate training and exams," he said.

Klymenko said in July, the number of service centers where such exams could be passed will be decreased from 148 to 55, while offices will be equipped with CCTV cameras and identification software. Citizens will be invited to file reports if they see signs of misconduct on the part of the centers’ employees.

"In addition, we would like to offer every citizen the opportunity to master the theory of traffic regulations independently or with a tutor, that is, they will not necessarily have to go to school. The main thing is the transparency in exams," Klymenko emphasized.

He specified that mobile groups will be deployed to service people with disabilities.
