Ukrainian community honors WWII victims in Tallinn

The Embassy of Ukraine and the Ukrainian community of Estonia have honored the memory of those who died in World War II by laying flowers at the Maarjamae Memorial to the Victims of Totalitarian Regimes in Tallinn.

That's according to the Facebook page of the Embassy of Ukraine in Estonia, Ukrinform reports.

According to the post, the ceremony was attended by the head of the Congress of Ukrainians in Estonia, Vira Konyk, the president of the Association of Ukrainian Organizations in Estonia, Volodymyr Palamar, activists of the Ukrainian community in Estonia, as well as Ukrainian priests Roman Kikh (Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church) and Ivan Khrystenko (a parish of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine in Tallinn).

Those present remembered Ukrainians who died during the Second World War, as well as all Ukrainians who died defending Ukraine from the Russian aggressor.

"The speeches included calls for unity in the fight against the Russian aggressor and providing comprehensive assistance to the Ukrainian Armed Forces who are heroically defending not only the independence of their homeland but also the freedom and future of the whole of Europe," the embassy added.

The Ukrainian community joined the commemoration of those who died in the Second World War after a joint ceremony that was attended by the Embassy of Ukraine, Minister of Justice of Estonia Kalle Laanet, ambassadors of foreign countries accredited in Estonia, Estonian military personnel and veterans.
