"Scythian gold" to be kept in Museum of Ukrainian History - MCIP
Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy Kateryna Chuieva said this during a briefing at the Ukraine Media Center Odesa, Ukrinform reports citing the press service of the ministry.
"The part of the exhibits from the exhibition at the Allard Pierson Museum, which was formed from the collections of Crimean museums, will return to Ukraine. The National Museum of History of Ukraine has been designated as the place of its temporary storage until the de-occupation of Crimea. We will work to ensure that after the return of these museum objects, Ukrainians will finally be able to see them," the official said.
Chuieva added that this case will be important for the history of museums and international judicial practice.
As reported, on June 9, 2023, after almost 9 years of court proceedings, the Supreme Court of the Netherlands fully satisfied the claims of the state of Ukraine, ordering the Allard Pierson Museum to transfer museum exhibits from the exhibition "Crimea. The Golden Island in the Black Sea" to the National Museum of History of Ukraine.
The exhibition consisted of the collections of five museums, one of which is located in Kyiv and four in Crimea (Simferopol, Kerch, Bakhchysarai and Chersonese).
