Over half of Ukrainians believe events in country developing “in right direction” - poll

That’s according to Andrii Bychenko, chief of Razumkov Center’s sociological service, who spoke at a press conference in Kyiv presenting the latest poll, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The absolute majority, namely 52.3% of those surveyed, believe that events in Ukraine are developing in the right direction," Bychenko noted.

According to the research, 26.8% of respondents believe the situation is developing in the wrong direction, and 21.1% said it was difficult for them to answer the question.

The public response is "quite optimistic," the expert notes.

At the same time, he added that in February, the share of those who believe that the situation in the country was developing in the right direction stood at 60.6%, while 21% thought the opposite.

"That is, we can claim that Ukrainian citizens’ optimism has somewhat decreased," concluded the chief of the sociological service.

The survey was run July 5-11 within the framework of the MATR Program project, financed by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ukraine.

In total, 2017 respondents aged 18 and over were interviewed. The theoretical sampling error does not exceed 2.3%.
