Britain to assist Ukraine in communication with partners to support veterans policy
This was stated by Minister for Veterans Affairs Yulia Laputina, who held a working meeting with a representative of the UK Embassy in Ukraine Dominic-Haydn Braithwaite, Ukrinform reports with reference to the Government website.
“Cooperation with the UK government is among the key ones to the implementation of a system of transition from military service to civilian life. The Ministry for Veterans Affairs is open to cooperation with all our international partners in the projects for the implementation of a new veterans policy, which provides a transparent approach to the needs of every defender,” Laputina said.
The parties discussed the possibilities of coordinating international support in the reintegration of veterans and their families. On the meeting’s top agenda was the development of a model of cooperation, which should simplify for Ukraine's international partners their understanding of the country’s key needs in support of veterans. The main outcome is the interest of the UK Embassy in Ukraine in creating an effective system of international support for veterans policy in Ukraine, which is being implemented by Ministry of Veterans.
It is noted that during the discussion, Braithwaite stressed the need to create a project office to develop cluster approaches to financing and implementing projects. As a co-chairman of the sectoral working group on the part of development partners, he proposed his assistance in communication with foreign partners who declared their willingness to support the government’s veterans policy.
According to Ukrinform, the Ministry for Veterans Affairs is dealing with standardization of services for veterans and setting up a register of their providers.
