President Volodymyr Zelensky stressed that Ukraine's path to Europe is not only political and geographical, but also ideological, and is taking place in Kharkiv, Kupiansk, Zaporizhzhia, Siverske, and other directions.

He said this in his address on the occasion of Constitution Day, recorded the day before in Lviv on the way from Kyiv to Brussels, Ukrinform reports.

In particular, Zelensky noted that Lviv is a city that is one of the first to welcome our international partners and has been hosting our people and evacuation trains since the first days of the war.

"And now I am here at the time of the historic decision to negotiate Ukraine's accession to the EU. We are now on our way to Europe. In every sense of the word. Our whole Ukraine is going through a difficult road. When a lot has been done, but a lot is ahead. When we cannot stop or take a wrong turn. When we have to get there. When we must successfully complete this path - Ukraine's path to Europe," Zelensky said.

He stressed that Ukraine's path to Europe began "not yesterday, not a year ago, and not in 1991".

"It was travelled by different generations who fought for an independent, European Ukraine. This path is woven from different destinies, different roads, different people. This path is full of trials, obstacles, pain that we have experienced, and the will that allows us to go forward. And each of us is going through this path today," the President said.

Zelensky stressed that the movement towards Europe and the path to freedom today is not only geographical and political, but also ideological.

"It is taking place in different areas: Kharkiv, Kupiansk, Zaporizhzhia, Siverske, the day before I was in Pokrovske... And in other, many, many areas. This path is difficult, but Ukraine will overcome it. Because we are going through it together, in every corner of Ukraine. Which is certainly a European state. And it will certainly be peaceful," the President said.

Today, 28 June, Ukraine celebrates Constitution Day.
