Lubinets: 3,405 prisoners of war returned to Ukraine since beginning of full-scale war
According to Ukrinform, Lubinets posted this on Facebook.
"I am incredibly pleased to announce that 95 of our people have returned to their homeland today! In total, we have managed to return 3,405 of our people home since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. These are soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, and border guards," Lubinets said.
Employees of the Ombudsman's Office are at the exchange site to monitor the observance of human rights in accordance with international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions.
"Many relatives have been receiving phone calls from the returnees for a long time. Also, the relatives of those who were returned today will receive an official notification from the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War. Then the returned soldiers will eat, get clean clothes, be examined by doctors, and receive the necessary treatment and rehabilitation," Lubinets said.
He expressed his gratitude to the United Arab Emirates for their assistance in the return of the military.
"Ukraine once again reaffirms its desire to return all its citizens to their homeland and is working in this direction. We are grateful to the families who are waiting for good news and believe in the government agencies that will involve international partners in the return of Ukrainians and work for the result," Lubinets added.
As Ukrinform reported, on 17 July, 95 more Ukrainians were returned from Russian captivity as a result of the exchange.
