Ukraine's defense, health ministries working on creation of single medical space - Umerov
Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said this during the 1st International Congress on Military Medicine and Mental Health "Warrior: Life, Health, Combat Capability" on Saturday, July 27, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
In addition, there are 500,000 first-aid kits and 500,000 tourniquets at warehouses, and another 300,000 first-aid kits are being prepared for delivery under signed agreements, Umerov said.
"First of all, we introduced a health care management system. We managed to establish close cooperation with the Ministry of Health in creating a single medical space and approve options for pre-medical and pre-hospital care, which is the basis for further deployment of the system. We ensured the availability of 500,000 first-aid kits, 500,000 tourniquets, and 300,000 first-aid kits are being prepared for delivery under signed agreements. This is an important step towards increasing the readiness of our military for any challenges," Umerov said.
He recalled that the write-off of medical property in military units had been simplified, the problem with doctors in non-medical positions has been resolved, and work on building a medical information system in hospitals was ongoing.
"Also, we created a department of psychological support and identified units responsible for reintegration measures," the minister said.
The 1st annual International Congress on Military Medicine and Mental Health entitled "Warrior: Life, Health, Combat Capability" was held in Kyiv on July 27. The congress, organized with the support of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, brought together leading health care specialists, the military, the leadership of the state and international organizations, as well as civil society representatives.
