Eighteen children remain in frontline Pokrovsk
This information was conveyed by Donetsk Governor Vadym Filashkin on Ukrainian television, Ukrinform reports.
“The situation in Pokrovsk is challenging. The current population is 11,000, with 18 children. We are working with residents on a daily basis to encourage them to leave and evacuate their children. I believe children will be evacuated within the current week,” Filashkin said.
He also noted that the region has been subject to a compulsory evacuation of families with children for almost a year. In particular, all children have been evacuated from the settlements of Kurakhivka, Toretsk, and Ocheretyne communities.
Filashkin said that 297 people still remain in the town of Chasiv Yar in the Bakhmut district, and more than 400 in the town of Kurakhove in the Pokrovsk district.
He emphasized the considerable difficulty in delivering humanitarian assistance to these and other towns where the fighting continues.
As reported by Ukrinform, the zone of forced evacuation of children with their families has been expanded in the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions.
