General Drapatyi: killing military personnel in rear crosses "red line"

The murder of military personnel in the rear is an unacceptable "red line", according to Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi, Commander of the Ukrainian Ground Forces.

He made this statement on his Telegram channel, as reported by Ukrinform.

"We cannot silently observe the growing wave of disrespect towards Ukraine's defenders — this is beyond what can be tolerated," Drapatyi stressed.

He noted that such incidents do not happen suddenly: “There have already been cases of humiliation and aggression against our defenders. Now, armed attacks are occurring. This is how the enemy operates — working among us while we debate social media likes."

“There is no justification for the murder of a servicemen or attacks on military enlistment offices. The government must respond swiftly and decisively to such lawlessness. Without justice for the killers and instigators, more soldiers will be murdered in the rear — on streets, gas stations, stores, and homes,” the commander stated.

He also stressed: "If society tolerates these attacks, bad symptoms will become a diagnosis. I believe that at the point where we are now, this is not possible. Because the only thing that separates us from the enemy is the Defense Forces of Ukraine, the Armed Forces."

"While we are losing our best people on the front lines, we must not lose our conscience in the rear. Disrespect for a person in uniform begins where dignity ends. We are obliged to respect those who have taken up arms and, at the cost of their own lives, defend our cities, the people in them, our borders, our sky and land, our state, our flag, our home. Eternal memory to the fallen warrior. My sincere condolences to his family, loved ones, and comrades," Drapatyi emphasized.

As reported earlier, in Pyriatyn, Poltava region, an unknown person shot and killed a serviceman from the Poltava District Territorial Center with a hunting rifle.
