Fire at Chornobyl NPP caused by Russian drone strike extinguished
Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Svitlana Hrynchuk reported this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.
"The fire in the insulating filler of the NSC’s outer cladding was extinguished at 21:30,” the minister noted.
She also informed that the background radiation in the exclusion zone remains normal. It is monitored continuously using an automated monitoring system at 39 points. Data are transmitted to the dispatch center around the clock every hour, and in the event of an emergency, every minute.
"The control levels of the ambient dose equivalent power have not been exceeded. The radiation situation remains under control," emphasized Hrynchuk.
As reported by Ukrinform, overnight on February 14, a Russian drone struck the New Safe Confinement arch at the Chornobyl NPP reactor unit 4 causing fire.
