Ukrinform, US Embassy open joint photo exhibition marking 250th anniversary of US independence
The exhibition was opened by Serhiy Cherevatyi, Director General of the Ukrainian National News Agency Ukrinform, and Megan Tetrick, Spokesperson for the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, Ukrinform's correspondent reports.

"These photographs demonstrate that the ties between the United States and Ukraine run far deeper than relations between governments or politicians — they are rooted in the values and aspirations shared by the American and Ukrainian people. Over the years, this connection has only grown stronger and today remains the foundation of a long-term partnership that brings together investment, technology, and security to ensure prosperity for both the United States and Ukraine. As we mark 250 years of American freedom and independence, we reflect on these moments of unity and cooperation and look forward with hope to a shared peaceful future," Megan Tetrick emphasized.
The black-and-white photographs from Ukrinform's archives take viewers back to the origins of U.S.-Ukraine relations — the period of diplomatic recognition, the first interstate contacts, the establishment of official dialogue, and the decisions that shaped a new historical reality. The color photographs provided by the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine continue this story, illustrating how the partnership established years ago has evolved and taken on new forms and meaning.
"In this exhibition, black and white and color are not merely an aesthetic choice, but a language of history. Ukrinform's archival photographs preserve the moment when U.S.-Ukraine relations were born, while the contemporary images provided by the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine testify to their continuity, maturity, and real substance. It is a dialogue between memory and the present, clearly demonstrating that genuine partnership begins in history but lives in the present," said Ukrinform Director General Serhiy Cherevatyi.
According to him, the exhibition is also "about how eras change while the most important things endure: respect for freedom, trust, solidarity, and the ability to stand together at decisive moments." At the same time, he added, the exhibition carries special significance for Ukrinform.

"As the national news agency, we do more than report the news — we preserve the memory of an era. Our photo archive is part of the country's historical consciousness. Time lives within it; it preserves the faces of the events that shaped the state, its international voice, and its place in the world," Serhiy Cherevatyi stressed.
At the end of May, Ukrinform also launched a special series of publications dedicated to the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence. The series already includes articles on the formation of the United States, great Americans who changed the world through science and entrepreneurship, as well as American culture.
