Kliuyev, Yakymenko, Shuliak and others face murder charges
KYIV, February 26 /Ukrinform/. The Prosecutor General's Office has suspected former President Viktor Yanukovych, former Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka, former Interior Minister Vitaliy Zakharchenko, former Presidential Administration Head Andriy Kliuyev, former Head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Oleksandr Yakymenko and Interior Troops Commander Stanislav Shuliak of committing murders, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office has reported.
"Yanukovych, Kliuyev, Pshonka, Zakharchenko, Yakymenko, Shuliak and others have been declared suspects," reads the statement.
The Prosecutor General's Office recalled that on February 25 it opened proceedings on the organization of intentional murders during protests on Independence Square in Kyiv. Part 2, Article 115 of the Criminal Code envisages 10 to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment.
The office added that searches had already been conducted in the Presidential Administration, the National Security and Defense Council, the National Bank of Ukraine and Mezhyhirya.
As part of the proceedings investigators will make a legal assessment of the actions of former heads of prosecuting agencies.
