Former Ukraine manager Andriy Shevchenko will not be appointed head coach of the Polish national football team, Ukrainian journalist Ihor Tsyhanyk has said.
Tsyhanyk wrote on Twitter that the Polish Football Association will focus on Polish candidates because the 45-year-old Ukrainian failed to terminate his contract with Italian club Genoa, Ukrinform reports.
Earlier reports said that Shevchenko had been sacked as Genoa manager, but the Italian club had not yet terminated the contract with him.
It was also reported that Shevchenko had agreed to take charge as Poland manager and that his annual salary would be 2.5 million euros.
