Viktor Lehkodukh wins gold at Invictus Games
"Lviv resident Viktor Lehkodukh won the gold medal for Ukraine in the shotput at Invictus Games," Head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration Maksym Kozytskyi posted on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
Lehkodukh went to defend Ukraine in the first days of Russian aggression in the spring of 2014. For half a year he fought in the hottest spots in eastern Ukraine. In August 2014, he received a severe gunshot wound to the spine, followed by a long period of treatment and rehabilitation. Sports helped him to carry on. Every day, despite the pain and obstacles, the veteran practiced strength exercises.
Earlier, Lehkodukh finished the London Marathon. He covered 42km in a wheelchair in 5 hours and 51 minutes.
In addition, the Youth and Sports Department of the Lviv Regional Military Administration reported that Lviv region veterans Serhiy Kalytiuk and Dmytro Afanasyev in a team with Kryvyi Rih resident Vasyl Stuzhenko won a silver medal in archery.
