Wimbledon winner loses in first round

The reigning champion of the Wimbledon tennis tournament, Czech Marketa Vondroušová, lost her title in the opening match.
On the second game day of the competition, Vondroušová (No. 6 in the world rankings) lost to Spaniard Jessica Buzas Maneiro of Spain (No. 83) in 1 hour and 10 minutes at Centre Court in London - 4:6, 2:6, Ukrinform reports.
Earlier in the history of Wimbledon, the current champion lost in the first round of the next year's tournament only once - in 1994, German Steffi Graf lost to Laura McNeil from the United States, who eventually reached the semifinals.
The third Grand Slam tournament of the season will run until July 14.
