Ukraine's partners allocated over $1B for energy sector last week - Shmyhal
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said this at a government meeting on Tuesday, Ukrinform reports, citing the head of government's Telegram channel.
"We have a number of solidarity initiatives from partners. Last week, the total announced support package for our energy system amounted to more than $1 billion," he said.
Shmyhal clarified that the United States was directing $500 million in additional energy aid to Ukraine through USAID and redirecting another $324 million to rebuild the country's energy infrastructure.
Norway will make a $74 million contribution to Ukraine's energy sustainability. According to Shmyhal, part of these funds will be used to repair facilities in Kharkiv city and the Kharkiv region.
The Canadian government is also investing $14.5 million in Ukraine's energy sector.
"We are grateful to everyone who stands with us in these difficult times and lends us a helping hand," Shmyhal said.
